Ep 95 - Setting Boundaries as a Working Parent with Rachel Vecht

If you’re a parent, carer or someone with a busy life, you want to make sure you’re doing your best at work, while making the most of your time outside of it.

In this week’s episode, I interview Rachel Vecht, founder of Educating Matters. Rachel works with organisations on inclusion and changing cultures to engage and support their employees, with a special focus on parents and carers.

We discuss:

  • How to set boundaries as a working parent or carer
  • How to integrate work, parenting/caring and time for yourself
  • Making sure a part-time role really is part-time
  • What it means to be a good enough parent

Rachel’s tips are helpful for anyone at work so this is worth a listen even if you’re not a parent or carer.

ABOUT RACHEL:

Rachel Vecht founded ‘Educating Matters’ in 2001 and provides guidance on inclusion, changing cultures and bespoke training. They help Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, L&D, HR teams and Employee Resource Groups to support and enhance the wellbeing of employees, so these employees are focused, productive, empowered, loyal and motivated.

Rachel’s practical support draws on her experiences as a schoolteacher but also the real, everyday experience of being an ‘imperfect but good enough’ mother to 4 children and the challenges of integrating work and family. She aims to equip parents and carers with the skills necessary to maximise the quality of precious time they spend with their children at home and get the very best out of them.
